As you head west of Lincoln, you cross over into the Town of Smithfield which is located centrally in Northern Rhode Island. Interesting fact is that Lincoln was once part of Smithfield until 1871. Smithfield is a mixture of suburban and rural living with a robust centrally located commercial shopping area on route 44 and industrial area on Putnam Pike aka Route 7. Almost anything you need can be found in Smithfield’s Apple Valley region which also attracts most Northern Rhode Island shoppers. Convenient highway access makes this town a very desirable place to call home. Also home to Bryant University, Fidelity Investments and Headquarters to businesses like Navigant Credit Union, a Northern RI staple.
